There's Just Something About This Girl...

Before I was a Mom women used to say "you don't understand because you're not a mom." When I was pregnant woment would tell me "the love you have for your child is hard to explain" or "you don't know love until you're a mom" Well after being a Mommy to Olivia for 15 months now I can surely understand all of those statements. There's just something about this girl that makes me love her more and more each day, I just can't explain it.

Maybe it's her endless curiousity....

Or those curls....
It's both of these things and so much more. It's the love I have for my baby girl and she has for me. It's a bond I can't explain and now understand all the mom's before me when they talked about it and I thought they were crazy...

Olivia has learned to give kisses which I LOVE!!! If you tell her to give you a kiss she'll open up her mouth and lay one on you, nice and slimmy-LOVE IT!! This last week I've been getting kisses at naptime and bed time from my sweet girl, right before she says "nii, nii"(night night). It is so sweet:)

On a whole other subject thanks to everyone who has checked out my mom's etsy shop and her new blog. Keep leaving comments and tell your friends about it. Because as you all know my mom is Olivia's babysitter and if she doesn't start selling stuff in her etsy shop I'll have to start paying for child care:) No pressure or anything:) I'm just kidding I just have to give my Mom a shout out for being so creative(it must skip generations) and getting herself out there.

Not Much...

Not much, pretty much sums up what we have been doing this summer. We've been enjoying each other and the much needed break from work, which has been GREAT!

Last week Olivia started swim lessons at the YMCA. She isn't really too sure about the pool with all of the kids, but she's getting better. Olivia is such a loner, she would much rather be by herself or with Mommy and Daddy. At the Y pool she is very clingy and won't do much but the other night at Mimi and PopPop's she absolutely LOVED the pool(sorry no pictures). She was swimming around with her new awesome floaty grabbing at the balls . Today Olivia did get much more excited about the pool at swim lessons. She tried to grab at different toys floating around and reaching for the wall to climb out, I hope she continues this the rest of the week.

I love watching Olivia grow and learn daily, she learns something new everyday. She has stacking rings which she has recently rediscovered. She will sit quietly and put all the rings on the cone, not necessarily in the right order.

She has also rediscovered her shape blocks. We've been practicing putting them in the correct hole on the top of the bucket. Olivia would much rather stack them and knock them down. Daddy has been stacking blocks and letting Olivia knock them down for a while but now Olivia can stack her own blocks and knock them down. Look at the concentration while stacking...

I've also taken on a do-it-yourself project around the house. We've had a bedroom set for about 6 years that is in desparate need of refinishing. I was planning on doing it when we first moved in 2 years ago but oops I got pregnant and couldn't paint. Well last week I decided to start cleaning out the spare room and refinish the furniture. So I've started my project by cleaning out the dresser, filling in the holes, and sanding down the old paint to prepare it to be repainted a nice clean white. I also cleaned the closet in the spare room and found 2 boxes from when we moved in that we never opened, thank goodness there was nothing important in them. I'm hoping that by the end of the week I can get the dresser and night stand painted and start putting the room back together. When I get my DIY project complete I'll be sure to post pictures so you can see all of my hard work:)

Leaps and Bounds

My how my little girl is growing! Everyday I look at her and can't believe how fast she's becoming a BIG girl. Today was Olivia's 15 month check up, which went very well. Here are her stats at 15 months
*27 lbs. well above the 90th percentile
* 33 inches long-again well above the 95th percentile

The dr was impressed with Olivia's growth and development and frankly so am I. Since being home for summer break I've watched Olivia grow in so many ways which I absolutely LOVE.
Her vocabulary is growing everyday and is picking up new words almost instantly. She's finally starting to eat some more foods-YIPPEE!! Some of her new faves are peaches, peaches in strawberry jello, cherries, strawberries, and pears. We are still trying to convince her that veggies are yummy but it's taking time. I can't say I blame her I don't like very many veggies either. She's newly obsessed with balls-throwing, kicking, and carrying them about. And what I find so cute about that is that if she sees something even remotely shaped like a ball Olivia yells "ball, ball". It is adorable.

Lastly some pictures for you all, because after all what kind of post would it be without a few shots of my sweet girl. She's eating some vanilla ice cream and a ritz cracker, not a combination I'd like but one she obviously does:)

Happy Day, Sad Day

Today is my and Paul's 3rd anniversary which I am very excited about. I woke up this morning ready to shop a little and thinking about a date with my dear hubby and no daughter for the night-WOOHOO! Paul and I have been through so much in the past 10 years, yes 10 years. The past 3 years being married to him have been wonderful and I look forward to the rest of our lives together.
As I rejoice about our life together I have a dear friend who lost her husband early this morning. Please keep Janet Salmon and her family in your prayers during this hard time. It makes me wonder WHY does God do such terrible things to wonderful people. My mom always tells me that God won't give you more then you can handle but I still always wonder WHY? Again please pray for Janet and her boys during this time.

Be thankful for everyday you have with the ones you love!!
