Key West....

Last week we headed out for our annual trip to Key West, a vacation I love. Paul and I have been to Key West almost every year since we met for mini lobster season, which I really enjoy but in recent years we've had a new focus on our trip. I enjoy KW for obvious reasons, it's pretty close to paradise. But since Olivia was born the trip is just not what is used to be... We just had to adjust our schedule and daily happenings to now include a 1 year old. It's just like people always say *babies change everything*. We had a great time this year, like always here are some of the highlights...
Olivia and her coconut.
She some what carried it back to the townhouse with my and Nanny's help. She would throw it when she got tired of carrying it. We just picked it up and gave it back to her. Unfortunately we were unable to bring it home for her there were a ton of ant on it by the end of the week, bummer.
On Tuesday after the rain and Olivia's nap we ventured down to the Key West aquarium. This aquarium isn't very big but it did the job and Olivia had a good time. Daddy got her to touch the iguana. This thing was huge...
The touch tank where Olivia got up close and personal with a starfish.
Right outside the aquarium there was a bench with a captian stature sitting on it. Olivia didn't really know what to think about him. She kept looking at him, I think she was trying to figure out if he was real of fake.
Wednesday and Thursday were the days vacation was all about mini lobster season. In years past we would get up at the crack of dawn to go out and catch these little buggers, this year not so much. We got up with the alarm clock(Olivia) around 8:30 and got ready. I was glad we didn't get up early:)
We let Olivia get up close with the lobsters Daddy caught. She really didn't know what to think about them, especially when they made noise. She opted to touch it with her foot rather then her hand.
If you've ever visited Key West your familiar with the *freak show* at sunset. If you have never visited every night at Mallory Square for sunset street performers come out to make a little money and put on a show. The Tin Man has been a fixture at Mallory Square for what seems like forever(he was there the first time I went with Paul almost 10 years ago). This man is painted silver and has a silver bike with him. He only moves and makes noise when you put money in his bucket, surprise, surprise:) Olivia wasn't too sure about him at first but we got right up there with him and she even got a treat for participating.
Key West is also the beginning and the end of US 1, in case you didn't know:) We had to make a stop there and take a family picture. Here we are at the beginning Mile Marker 0...
Then we crossed the street and went to the end of US 1 at Mile Marker 0 again.
We also made a stop at the Southern Most point of the continental USA and take a picture.
We had a wonderful family vacation and next year will be even better since Olivia will be older.

Glad to see you had a good time! JP and I took the same picture at the southernmost part of the states when we went on our cruise!

I love the picture of Olivia touching her first lobster with her foot.
